Entry #005 - Bad news...

The new year did not start very well I'm afraid. Heard yesterday that a very good friend of the family (and wonderful teacher and father) passed away a day ago, quite suddenly too. I don't think he was over 40....

Very broken up about this and have sort of been in a daze past two days, I have commissions to tackle but just feeling very down when I think about it...

On a good note, I now have a job at a coffee shop which will cover my rent and give me possibly extra income as well. I was so very happy about this until I heard the news...

*sigh* I have a commission to upload but I think it'll have to wait until next entry... bit depressed at the moment...

Entry #004 - Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Everyone! Hope your year is bright and happy! (oh and successful!)

So on to my life.

No word from paintballing this weekend or last. Ah well... I suppose they'll eventually call me. Also no response to the cleaning cards. This is okay as well *plugs on*.

On a more pleasant note, I've signed up for Tai Chi and did my first class last night. It was absolutely wonderful! So smooth - definitely my type of thing (I dislike hurried frantic movements). My muscles were very sore after though.

I'm trying to get back to my 'waking up bright and early' routine that I had going before Christmas - it gave me about 3 more hours in the day. This morning I got up at 8:30am! Will be incrementing that down to 8 tomorrow.

The greeting card business I'm working for seems to give me a small steady stream of income so I'm grateful for this and plugging away at them. Unfortunately can't show you any until maybe end of year (if ever - just take my word for it I'm doing them ^__ - ).

I've joined a Design Forum in the UK - http://www.designforums.co.uk/
And so far liking how it looks and will be frequenting there a bit.

Also! Commission completed.

Entry #003 - the ups and downs of day jobs

I more or less seem to have a steady job at paintballing every weekend, and thank god it's only on weekends... I mean seriously, I could rake in a crap load of money doing it every day but my back would be broken within the week. But sooo grateful for the work - covers my rent nicely :).

I went for a job interview yesterday at GimmeGizmos and it went well I guess, they told me if I got called today (Tuesday) I'd have the job. So far its 2:30 and I'm feeling my heart sink. *shakes self* It's times like this I regret leaving Jamaica but I also tell myself this is a learning experience and its good for me, and I should have done it years ago.

I'm working on a number of commissions that came through thanks to some wonderful chums online Patches and Neolucky.

Also working for a company now, called Vgreet. Cool job so far :).

Entry #002 - Hopeful times...

Well, some interesting things today. About a month ago when I just arrived in England, I signed up at some work agencies hoping to get graphic design work through them. After what was a worrisome month I got contacted at last that there was a potential maternity leave cover. I happily agreed, it was in April but work in the future was work in the future right?

I got contacted about a week ago that the client wanted me to do a test job. No problem, I took the job, it was simple enough a flier for reflexology which I got into with gusto and delivered the day before the deadline. Here are the works!

It turns out the client liked it! She's pitching it to -her- client and if they like it I might get some money from it. Not much and even if I don't get the money that's all right because I feel like I proved my worth today. It's really hopeful feeling...

In other news! Because I know the reality of my situation I've designed my flier for cleaning services I want to offer. If it lets me do my art in the evening, I'm all for it.

What do you think? :)
The original has my phone number on there so I just left that off for the site.

Also! My business card! I keep getting "oooos" for it so that's awesome right? :D

Entry #001

Well the move to England has been interesting! I thought I'd do a blog to show all work related projects taken on, in progress and completed (Minus the private ones).

Here are a few I've completed since I've touched British soil.
